New Jersey Association of USA Boxing salutes amateur boxing official Rodney Price. Rodney attended his first USA Boxing National Tournament as an official in December 2019 in Lake Charles Louisiana and truly made New Jersey proud. Rodney performed as a timekeeper, judge and referee. He ranked in the top percentile as a judge and his performance as a referee was stellar. Both his performance in the ring and mild-mannered, easy going attitude outside of the ring did not go unnoticed.

About Rodney – Rodney was born and raised in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Today he shares his gifts and talents with youth at the Elizabeth Recreation Boxing Club. He volunteers side-by-side with his mentor, our USAB Coaches Chair, Mr. Don Givens.

Rodney fell in love with the sport of boxing at the age of 10 winning the Junior Olympics and Golden Glove titles before turning pro. His career ended due to medical issues. Rodney was fortunate to receive guidance from boxing’s greats, Benjy Esteves, Pierre Benoist, Earl Morton and the late, Ronald Ali Bashir.

In 2016, Rodney was inducted into the New Jersey Boxing Hall of Fame and in 2018 award the NJBHOF Official of the Year Award

Rodney has been an amateur official for seven years and is preparing to elevate to Level 3. New Jersey Association is proud to have such a high performing team of officials and this team plays a part in Rodney and others elevating and displaying excellence at the National level. We thank his many mentors for being in his corner. Congrats to our SPOTLIGHT official of the month – Mr. Rodney Price. We SALUTE YOU!
